This Moroccan Blend is so popular and versatile. Use it in a slow cooker, in the oven or on the stove top in a heavy based pan.
Tagines in Moroccan cuisine are slow-cooked stews braised at low temperatures, resulting in tender meat with aromatic vegetables and sauce. They are traditionally cooked in the tagine pot.
It is important to know that a regular heavy duty pot or pan can be replaced for the TAGINE, with excellent results.
Moroccan: Slow Cooked
4 Tbsp Moroccan Blend, 1 kg Lamb Shanks or Shoulder Chops, Oxtail or Chicken Thighs, 2 Prunes, 1 Parsnip or Potato peeled and cubed, 2 Carrots chopped, 2 Onion chopped finely, 1 Tbsp Tomato Paste, 400g canned peeled Tomatoes, 1 Cup Orange Juice and 2 cups Water
Coat your meat with Spice Blend and seal lightly in a little Oil. Place in a large oven proof dish, add Prunes, Vegetables, Onions, Tomato Paste, peeled Tomatoes, Orange Juice and Water. Cover with a lid and gently bake in a moderate oven for 1 1/2 to 2 hours or until meat is tender. Add salt to taste.
